Why Philip Small?

Healthy soil is fundamental to clean water, clean air, and healthy communities. Merely conserving soil falls short of our need, as well as our capability. Economic and community revitalization calls us to soil revitalization.

I am always curious about the nature of soil. The land can prosper through our stewardship. At UC Davis I learned how soil develops and responds in nature.

I spent my first years as a soil mapper, working for engineering and environmental firms, and for agencies, including the Bureau of Reclamation and the Yakima Indian Nation. I directed farm irrigation and fertility services with Agrimanagement in Yakima. Independent agricultural field scouting evolved naturally into environmental field consulting and the formation of Land Profile, Inc.
